Budget impasse: Buhari forwards grey areas to National Assembly

President Muhammadu Buhari has forwarded the grey areas in the 2016 Budget to the National Assembly for review.
The Presidency and the National Assembly had ‎been in a row over the delisting of the Lagos-Calabar rail project from the budget passed by the National Assembly.
However, our correspondent gathered that at the closed-door session in the Senate on Thursday, which lasted for one and half hours, senators agreed ‎to make progress in the interest of Nigerians.
Our correspondent reliably gathered that areas of concern in the 2016 Budget had already been submitted to both chambers of the National Assembly for review.
In an interview with the Senate Leader, Senator Ali Ndume, over state of budget, he denied that it had been returned to the National Assembly.
Ndume said the Presidency had only identified areas of concern in the budget.
Ndume said: “It is not true that the budget had been sent back to the National Assembly.
“I am also not aware that there is not any communication from the President on the issue.
“What I know is that areas of concern to the Presidency are now with us here.
“We are talking with the Presidency to resolve all the issues.”
Earlier, after the closed-door session, the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, had said: “T‎h‎e Senate in closed-door session deliberated on the issue relating to the 2016 Budget and the way forward for the quick resolution of the matter.
“We agreed to make progress in the interest of Nigerians.”
