The police in Lagos on Thursday arraigned two brothers, Opeyemi Adebanjo and Moses Adebanjo, for allegedly stealing electrical appliances worth N3 million.
Opeyemi, 31, and Moses, 27, are facing three counts of conspiracy, breaking and stealing.
They appeared before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuiomose, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on March 17 at 11.00pm at Isowe Compound Foundation, Oko-Afo, Badagry.
Okuoimose said the defendants broke into a shop belonging to the complainant, Owolabi Mukaila, and stole some electrical appliances.
He said that the defendants were caught by security guards and handed over to the police.
Okuoimose said that the offences contravened Sections 287, 411 and 307 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Section 287 stipulates three years jail term for stealing, while Section 411 provides for two years imprisonment for conspiracy.

The Chief Magistrate, T. A. Popoola, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with two sureties in like sum.
Popoola adjourned the case until April 24, for mention.
