Twenty-four hours after his suspension, the Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Babayo Gamawa, has defected to All Progressives Congress.
This development was confirmed on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.
The National Working Committee of the PDP had suspended Babayo over anti-party activities among other allegations.
His suspension was announced by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, after a meeting of the NWC.
But in a post on his Facebook page on Wednesday, Adesina confirmed the defection of Babawo to the APC and meeting with President Buhari, backed with photographs.
Babawo was accompanied to the meeting with Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja by the Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, and Hon. Kaulaha Aliyu.
Adesina wrote on his Facebook page: “President Buhari receives in audience New Entrant into APC Former Deputy National Chairman of PDP Senator Babayo Garba Gamawa and Hon. Kaulaha Aliyu alongside Bauchi State Governor in State House on 8th Jan 2019.”
