The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has announced the sighting of the moon.
This signals the end of the Ramadan fast.
According to the Sultan, the moon was sighted on Saturday (today) evening in Borno and Adamawa States among other places.
Alhaji Abubakar announced that Sunday (tomorrow) will be observed as the Eid-el-Fitr.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had earlier in the day announced the sighting of the moon, signaling the end of Ramadan.
