The Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team has uncovered a serving Soldier among the members of the gang of kidnap kingpin, Chukwudi Dumeme Onuwamadike, popularly known as Evans.
The IRT, headed by an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, arrested the Lance Corporal in Lagos.
His name was given as Victor Chukwunonso.
He was said to have been arrested by Kyari and his team “after weeks of painstaking surveillance on him”.
The Eagle Online gathered that Chukwunonso was arrested based on the confessions of Evans, who was arrested in his Magodo Estate home in Lagos State on June 10, 2017.
Chukwunonso’s number was given as 09/NA/64/6317.
He is attached to the Nigeria Army Band Corps, Abatti Barracks, Surulere, Lagos.
He is said to be a native of Onitsha in Anambra State and was arrested on Friday at about 9pm in Ojo area of Lagos State.
Chukwunonso has owned up to the crime.
He confessed to have gone with Evans for kidnapping in Lagos State three times and got N2 million, N1.5 million and N3 million as his share of the ransoms paid.
