The Senate has confirmed the receipt of the letter of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, on the invitation of the Controller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, retired Colonel Hameed Ali.
The Senate has invited Ali to appear at plenary on Wednesday after the Customs boss failed to appear in uniform as mandated last week.
Ali had earlier on Tuesday written the Senate that he would not be appearing as directed based on a letter from Malami.
He said based on a suit filed by a Nigerian on the issue and the ruling of the court that status quo should be maintained, Malami advised him not to appear before the Senate.
A further letter from Malami has been received on the issue.
The spokesman of the Senate, Senator Abdullahi Sabi, confirmed the receipt of the letter.
