The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Ondo State election, Rotimi Akeredolu, as the governor-elect.
Akeredolu was pronounced the winner of the election by the INEC Returning Officer for the poll, Prof. Abdul Ganiyu Ambali.
Ambali, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, said he made the declaration with Akeredolu having satisfied the requirements of the law for the election.
Akeredolu dusted his closest rivals, Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party and Olusola Oke of the Alliance for Democracy, when he polled 244,842 votes.
Jegede had 150,380 votes, while Oke scored 126,889 votes.
Akeredolu won in 14 of the 18 local government areas of the state, while Oke and Jegede won in two local government areas each.
