Breaking: APC leaders storm National Assembly over Senate face-off with Presidency

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress under the aegis of the National Working Committee is at present engaged in a meeting with senators elected on the platform of the party in the National Assembly.
The meeting, which was at the instance of the leadership of the APC, started at about 2:48pm.
The APC had in a statement on Sunday said it plans to meeting with the party’s caucus in the Senate over the frosty relationship with the executive.
The Senate and the Presidency have had a not too cordial relationship since the APC came into power in 2015, beginning with the election of the Senate leadership.
In recent times, the relationship appeared to have gone from bad to worse owing to differences over the invitation of some heads of parastatals by the Senate and rejection of some nominees.
This was more so in the case of the confirmation of Ibrahim Magu as the substantive chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, and the call for the boss of the Nigeria Customs Service, Colonel Hameed Ali (retd), to appear in uniform to explain the controversial import duties on old vehicles.
There is also the ongoing investigation of the Presidential Initiative on the North East, which is under the supervision of the Secretary to Government of the Federation, Babachir David Lawal.
Those in attendance at the meeting on the side of the leadership of the APC include the National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun; National Organising Secretary, Osita Izunaso; and National Secretary of APC, Mai Buni.
The President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, is leading the APC caucus in the Senate to the meeting.
