The Controller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Colonel Hameed Ali (retd), has again said he would not honour the invitation of the Senate to appear before it.
Before he appeared in mufti last week and was told to re-appear in Customs uniform, Ali had snubbed the Senate.
When he appeared last week in a white caftan, the senators walked him out and told him to return on Wednesday (tomorrow) in Customs uniform.
But available information on Tuesday has it that Ali has again written the Senate to say he will not be honouring the invitation.
Credible sources informed The Eagle Online that Ali in the letter told the Senate that his not appearing was based on the advice of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.
Ali said Malami has written to him and all the parties involved in his being summoned by the Senate to stay action pending the determination of an originating summons filed by one Mohammed Ibrahim.
The CG said following the service of the of the summons on him, he sought legal advice from Malami.
Based on the advice by Malami, Ali wrote the Senate, intimating the legislators that he will not be appearing on Wednesday following the legal advice.
