Barely 48 hours to the scheduled kick off of the 2013 Glo Premier League season, the Interim Management Committee of the Nigeria Professional Football League is still running from pillar to post in its quest to source for fund.
The Eagle Online can exclusively reveal that the N200 million loan expected from the National Sports Commission is yet to be secured.
With the pending legal matter between Globacom and Total Promotion, the only option left for the league board to raise money, according to our source, is individual donation from members of the IMC.
A source in the IMC told The Eagle Online: “The hope of securing the N200 million loan promised by the Ministry of Sports is very slim.
“The only option left for the league board to start the league is for members to contribute money.
“It is that bad.”
Match officials’ indemnity is estimated to gulp N5 million per week, excluding other logistics.
Rangers International is scheduled to take on Enyimba International in the season’s opener at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on Saturday.
The 2013 season has suffered several postponements due to legal tussle over title rights between Globacom and MTN, with the latter eventually pulling out.
