The Sokoto State Universal Education Board on Tuesday donated a motorcycle to a headmaster, Muhammad Altine, who obtained a personal bank loan to purchase learning materials for pupils of Gidan-Bunga Primary School.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Altine had obtained N106,000 bank loan, which he used to purchase the materials for the school located in Shagari Local Government Area.
The Chairman of the board, Prof Musa Maitafsir, handed over the motorcycle to the elated headmaster at a brief ceremony in Sokoto.
Maitafsir said: “The token is to show appreciation to the efforts and magnanimity of the headmaster.
“He is number one among many and his gesture is worthy of emulation by all his colleagues and all of us.”
He urged the people of the state to emulate the patriotic effort of the headmaster by contributing positively to the development of the state.
According to Maitafsir, the era when communities will solely depend on government to provide all their needs is over.
Responding, Altine commended the board for the donation and pledged to continue supporting the proper education of pupils under his care.
