Basketball Stakeholders have been advised to be wary of one Emmanuel Enejoh who has been parading himself as the Administrative Secretary of the Nigeria Basketball Federation.
In a memo signed by NBBF Secretary, Chimezie Asiegbu, to the Presidents of Nigerian Basketball Referees Council, Nigerian Basketball Coaches Association, Coordinator of Nigerian Statisticians and FIBA Referee instructor in Nigeria (Tunde Popoola), the federation clearly stated that the designation of “Admin Secretary” is unknown to the NBBF and the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports.
The memo stated: “Mr Enejoh is an impostor who is impersonating the NBBF. The recent invitation of Coaches and Referees Associations to Abuja for a Refresher Course under the name of the NBBF is clearly a misrepresentation and is therefore null and void. NBBF in conjunction with FIBA organized the FIBA Statistician and Table Officials Certification Courses in October, 2017 at no cost to the participants who were certified and issued with International Certificates by FIBA.
“There will be a repeat of the same courses again shortly pursuant to the NBBF’s organization of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Group B Qualifiers taking place in Lagos from 25th June to 3rd July, 2018.”
The federation describes his behaviour as manipulative, criminal and deceptive in an attempt to railroad unsuspecting members of the public.
The NBBF seizes this opportunity to urge all concerned persons to disregard the purported invitation to Abuja as concrete arrangements are already in place to kick start 2018 with a media unveiling of the National Divisions 2 and 1 Championships on Thursday.
“FIBA has made its position clear via various correspondences that it will deal with the Musa Kida led NBBF which is also recognized by the Federal Ministry of Youths & Sports and the NOC. All basketball Stakeholders in Nigeria are therefore expected to deal with this body as far as National basketball matters are concerned.”
Meanwhile, a detailed dateline of activities for the 2018 calendar year of the NBBF will be made public next week.
This will include dates for the official NBBF Stakeholders Meeting, training for Coaches, Referees and Technical Commissioners, to be conducted by Certified FIBA instructors.
The NBBF secretariat has also notified Director of Federation of Elite Athletes Department of the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports, Nigeria Olympic Committee, Zoran Radovic (FIBA, National Federations Department) and Dr. Alphonse Bile (Regional Director, FIBA Africa).
