Against the backdrop of the situation in Nigeria, an Ibadan, Oyo State-based defence analyst, Omooba Rasheed Adesokan, has urged Nigerians to be patient with President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in his efforts at repositioning the country.
Adesokan told newsmen in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, that there was the urgent need for Nigerians to support the Buhari-led government in correcting all the ills of the past and return the country to the path of glory.
The Director-General of the Centre for Islamic and Youth Development, decried decadence in the country in the last six years caused by the mis-governance of the previous administration.
He said the bad policies of the past administration had affected negatively virtually all sectors of the economy.
Adesokan, who is the Community leader of Bodija in Ibadan, said the present suffering and groans about fuel scarcity, shortage of electricity supply in the country among others, would soon be a thing of the past.
“The situation has been worsened in the last six years, so Nigerians have no option than to be patient with the present administration change mantra,” he said.
According to him, since the present leadership had no magic wand to do things, “Nigerians will have to be patient or ordered to be patient.
“The situation has degenerated for the past six years and somebody came less than 11 months and we are expecting miracle. It is going to take course before things get better.”
Speaking on unemployment among the youth, Adesokan called on the Federal Government to immediately release money for the establishment of small scale industries.
Adesokan added that on a long run, big industries across the six geopolitical zones should be built to employ large number of the unemployed youths in the country.
He said the evil tendencies of the youth occasioned by idleness would be greatly curtailed with provision of jobs to engage them.
The Islamic leader commended Buhari-led government on the war against corruption, saying that it would take a very long time before Nigerians see the positive aspect of the fight.
Adesokan, who is also the Balogun Mumini of Yorubaland, said the decision of the government to diversify the economy from oil to agriculture was in the right direction.
