Mario Balotelli has caused a stir after he was apparently filmed smoking in the changing rooms minutes ahead of his debut for hometown club Brescia against Juventus.
The former Manchester City star made an innocuous start to his Brescia career, playing 90 minutes but failing to score in his side’s 2-1 home defeat to Serie A champions Juventus.
However, a video has now emerged apparently showing Balotelli smoking in the Brescia changing room as he was preparing for the match.
In the short video, Balotelli can be seen topless with his hands up to his mouth seemingly holding a cigarette.
The video was reportedly recorded minutes before the match against Juventus.
Italian sports newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport reports “the camera then turns but the mystery remains”.
Balotelli was pictured smoking a cigarette during his unsuccessful stint at Liverpool and has courted controversy his whole career.
During his time at Manchester City, he reportedly threw a dart at a youth team player as a training ground ‘prank’.
The striker is yet to comment on this latest alleged incident.
Balotelli returned to his homeland this summer on a free transfer after Marseille in the summer having scored eight goals in 15 Ligue 1 matches.
The 29-year-old initially made a name for himself after progressing through the youth ranks at Inter Milan, before joining Man City in the summer of 2010.
After three years at the Etihad Stadium, the Italy international returned to Serie A with AC Milan, but spent just one season with the Italian giants before signing for Liverpool.
Things did not work out at Anfield for Balotelli, who later returned to Milan on loan before departing the Reds for good in the summer of 2016.
The 29-year-old then joined French club Nice that summer, before a switch to Marseille in January.
