A splinter group has emerged in the Peoples Democratic Party.
The parallel group, led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, was formed on Saturday after its members walked out of the Special National Congress of the party at the Eagle Square in Abuja.
Addressing a news conference, Abubakar said the group has emerged the authentic PDP.
Other members of the parallel PDP are a former Governor of Osun State and former National Secretary, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola; and the Governor of Rivers State, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi.
A former National Secretary of the Party, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, was pronounced the National Chairman while Oyinlola emerged the National Secretary.
Dr. Sam Sam Jaja, was announced as the Deputy Chairman.
Also present at the formation of the parallel PDP were governors Babangida Aliyu of Niger State, Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State, Sule Lamido of Jigawa State, Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State and Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State.
Also in attendance were a former Governor of Nasarawa State, Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi, several senators and members of the House of Representatives.
