The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has disowned the GoFundMe account set up to raise funds for his court case against President Muhammadu Buhari.
The fund was set up on Tuesday to support Abubakar’s case at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.
The PDP candidate had gone to the Tribunal to challenge the declaration of Buhari as the winner of the February 23, 2019 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The GoFundMe account then came into public glare on Tuesday to raise fund for the petition.
However, Abubakar, through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and Strategy, Phrank Shaibu, said of the fund: “We do not know anything about it.
“We are not in any way connected to it but we consider it as a purely private initiative of the promoters.”
