Premier League giants, Arsenal, have been linked with Nigeria and Hull City striker, Sone Aluko, The Eagle Online has gathered.
Hull City manager, Steve Bruce, who disclosed this on Monday, stated that Arsene Wenger is keen to secure the services of the striker.
“Wenger even asked about him the other day. That should give Sone confidence if someone like the Arsenal manager is asking all about when he’s coming back,” said Bruce.
The Hull City boss however insisted that there is no prospect of Hull City cashing in on Aluko during the January transfer window – even if the sidelined forward fails to agree a new contract.
Having turned down what was described as a “fabulous offer” from the Tigers earlier this month, the long-term future of Aluko remains up in the air as he approaches the end of his existing deal.
Although the issue has been further complicated by an Achilles injury ruling out the 24-year-old until February, that has not stopped reports linking the striker with a move away from the KC Stadium in the New Year.
Crystal Palace were also touted as a possible suitor in January as City become increasingly vulnerable to losing Aluko on a free transfer next summer, but Bruce has dismissed all talk of the player leaving before the season is out.
“I’m still hopeful that we can do something,” said Bruce, discussing the present status of contract talks.
