Argentinian ambassador to Nigeria, Maria Squeff, has sued for peaceful co-existence among Nigerians to enhance rapid development of the country.
Squeff made the call when she visited the Executive Secretary, Catholic Caritas Foundation of Nigeria, Rev. Fr Evaristus Bassey, on Friday, in Abuja.
She said: “In Argentina we live together with people of other faiths without any problems. We realised the need for respect and tolerance for each other’s religion.
“We receive a lot of immigrants and also accept each other differences so we can enjoy our existing peace with one another in putting in place our desired development in our country. “
She implored Nigeria’s leaders to do everything to key into the culture of adopting international best practices for nation’s development.
The envoy said Nigerians should know the importance of promoting peaceful coexistence in every aspect of engagement.
She noted that it had become necessary for Nigerians to leave in harmony as the 2019 elections drew near, adding that Nigerians were becoming more concerned with sustaining peace during elections.
Squeff also reaffirmed the need for continuous orientation toward national development in the country.
She advocated for enhanced partnership with the CCFN in humanitarian works and other areas of interest.
She added that the embassy would look into the works of CCFN for possible areas of collaboration.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary of CCFN, Bassey, highlighted the need for effective collaboration between CCFN and the Argentinian embassy.
He said that the partnership would see to the upscale of humanitarian services in the country.
The cleric commended the ambassador for the embassy to have decided to collaborate with CCFN.
