Silifat Aborishade, the widow of the Chairman of the Apapa Local Government Area chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, Adeniyi Aborishade, who was killed at a reconciliation meeting of the party, has raised the alarm over the detention of those who lodged the complaints about the killing of her husband.
Rather than go after the killers of her husband, Aborishade alleged that operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have clamped into prison those who reported the killing.
In a petition to the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department, Panti, Yaba, Lagos State, she alleged that those that went to the police station to report the murder of her husband were arrested and detained by homicide detectives.
The woman, who demanded for release of the men already remanded at Ikoyi Prison, said: “I wish to state with emphasis that the five accused persons, Dr. Amos Alabi Fawole, Kehinde Fasasi, Rotimi Kujore, Fatai Adele and Ismaila Abiola, are the complainants and not the accused persons as erroneously suggested in the charge sheet.
“The five accused persons are not in any way responsible for the death of my husband. They are the complainants that have now, for reasons best known to the prosecution, turned into the accused/victims in this unfortunate situation. Note that this petition was written of my own freewill and not under duress or any form of pressures from any quarters.”
According to Aborishade, the detention of the five men and subsequent conviction on charges of conspiracy and murder was a shock to her.
Adeniyi was shot dead during a reconciliatory meeting of the PDP at Igbosuku Community, Lekki Phase II, Eti-Osa Local Government Area.
Aborishade said: “The five accused persons are on the same camp with my husband till his demise as they were close friends and fellow chairman of their respective local governments.”
