As the results of the governorship and state House of Assembly elections held on Saturday started streaming in at the polling unit level, the fate of some of the main actors in the process have become known.
While some lost woefully, others were able to deliver their units to their parties.
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode; the National Coordinator of the Oodua Peoples Congress, Otunba Gani Adams; a former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; and Ibrahim, a son of the Minister of State 2 for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, were among those who delivered their polling units to their parties.
On the losing side were the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Jimi Agbaje; a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and senator-elect, General Jeremiah Useni; and a former National Vice Chairman (South West) of the PDP, Chief Olabode George.
From Abule-Ado/Soba Polling Unit Ward B2 in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State where Adams, a known supporter of outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party, cast his vote, the PDP got 247 votes, while the APC was left with 183 votes in the governorship election.
For the House of Assembly, Adams secured 232 votes for the PDP, while APC scored 190 votes.
George lost his polling unit to the APC.
Ibrahim Obanikoro, House of Assembly aspirant on the platform of the PDP, won his Ward 9, Polling Unit 012 at Onitolo/Ojora Road in Lagos State.
While the PDP scored 66 votes in the governorship race, the APC had 59 votes.
For the House of Assembly, the PDP had 80 votes and the APC 43.
Agbaje lost his polling unit in Apapa in the House of Assembly poll by 82 votes to APC’s 89.
Ambode in his Epe polling unit pulled 200 votes for the APC, while the PDP had 31 votes.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, won her polling unit to consolidate her emergence as the senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District.
She won her polling unit at Ward 09, PU 34 at Bourdillon in Ikoyi, Lagos State.
For the governorship poll in the Ward, the APC had 99 votes and the PDP scored 24 votes, while for the Assembly seat, APC had 91 votes and PDP, 31.
Former Governor Fayemi won his ward, Isan-Ilafon-Ilemeso, for the APC.
While the APC scored 1,463 votes, the PDP had 386 votes.
In Plateau State, the senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District, retired General Jeremiah Useni, lost his polling unit.
Useni is of the PDP.
Useni, a retired Lieutenant General and was a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory during late General Sani Abacha regime.
At Useni’s Pajat Polling Unit 008, the APC scored 218 votes, while the PDP got 207.
Also at Polling Unit 012, the APC scored 241, while the PDP got 124 votes, and at polling Unit 005, the APC also disgraced the senator-elect by sweeping 253 votes against PDP’s 117.
