Ambassador charges Flying Eagles to retain AYC trophy

Nigeria’s Ambassador to Tunisia, James Shuaibu Barka, has charged the Flying Eagles to make the county proud by defending their African Youth Championship title in Algeria.
Ambassador Barka, who has been away on official duty in Nigeria, visited the country’s U20 team on Tuesday evening to urge them to fly Nigeria’s flag high at the 2013 AYC, which kicks off on Sunday.
He said: “We believe you will go to Algeria to successfully defend your championship.
“This will be to the credit of Nigeria.
“We pledge our support for the team and our prayer is that you make us all proud in Algeria.”
Ambassador Barka, who was accompanied to the El Mouradi Hotel in Gammarth by the embassy’s Charge d’Affaires, Abdulkareem Mambila, said the Flying Eagles are the future of Nigerian football.
“You are the future of Nigerian football and we expect most of you here to go on and play for the Super Eagles,” he said.
The Flying Eagles have trained in Tunisia for 17 days so as to get used to the cold weather they will come up against in Algeria.
The Ambassador promised to be in Algeria to watch the team in the final of the AYC.
The Flying Eagles departed for Algiers on Wednesday evening aboard Algeria Airline.
