The President, Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, Alhaji Shettima Yerima, has said that the Emir of Kazaure, Dr. Najib Hussaini Adamu, is not speaking for the North on the issue of the sentencing to death of a former Chief Security Officer to the late General Sani Abacha, Major Hmaza al-Mustapha, for the killing of Kudirat Abiola, wife of late business mogul and winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election, late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola.
Yerima, in a statement on Saturday, said that Adamu, who stated the position of the North as being against the execution of al-Mustapha as ordered by the court, was speaking for some interests and not that of the whole of the North.
He said that the position is clearly anti-North, adding that those Adamu claimed attended the meeting where the decision was taken have since dissociated themselves from that position.
He said: “The Emir of Kazaure, Dr. Najib Hussaini Adamu is not speaking for the north. Am sure he may be speaking for certain interest that is anti-North.
“I challenge him to ask other northern leaders and emirs who were at the meeting to agree to his submission.
“As I speak, I have contacted some of our leaders who were at the meeting and they dissociated themselves from what Adamu said.
“These are the same characters that put the Northern part of the country into the present mess it is today because of their lack of consistence and greed at the expense of the ordinary northerner.
“Today the North is faced with a lot of challenges as a result of their charlatan attitude towards the good and well-being of the North.
“The North has lost its dignity and respect in the present Nigeria of today and this was not the legacy of our founding fathers, like Alhaji Amadu Bello, Tafawa Belewa and others….”
