Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have reportedly arrested a Nigerian singer and social media sensation, Darlington Okoye, aka Speed Darlington in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
Counsel for the singer and Human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the development in a post on his official X page on Wednesday.
According to Adeyanju, Speed Darlington was arrested while performing at a show in Owerri, days after returning to the country earlier in the week.
He wrote, “Our client, Speed Darlington, a.k.a AKPI, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria.”
However, the reason for the singer’s arrest remains unclear at the time of filing this report.

It will be recalled that the Nigeria Police had arrested Darlington over alleged cyberstalking of a Nigerian music superstar, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy.
Speed Darlington, also known as Akpi was arrested in Lagos and subsequently transferred to Abuja before being detained by the IGP’s Intelligence Response Team in the Guzape area of Abuja.
Akpi, who was accused of cyberstalking Burna Boy, was released on bail days after his arrest.
