The affordability of the sachet water, popularly known as pure water, produced by the Living Faith Church, has led to a rush for its purchase.
While others sell their sachet water for between N120 and N150 per bag, the Living Faith Church, better known as Winners Chapel, sells its for N60.
This has resulted in long queues for the purchase of the water, even on Sundays when church services are ongoing.
Winners chapel is headed by Bishop David Oyedepo.
It was learnt that people who purchase the water come from far and near to the church, which is located along the Sango-Idi Iroko Road.
The water is sold to both individuals and retailers at the same price.
Known as Hebron Water, the sachet water is quite popular in Ota and its environ, especially with those who attend Winners Chapel.
There are those who believe that the water has the capacity to solve their challenges, hence the need to always have it at home.
A housewife, who simply identified herself as Mrs. Martins, told The Eagle Online that Heron Water is becoming very difficult to get due to the mad rush for the water.
Martins said: “I am a member of the Winners Chapel at Ota and my family and I attend service almost every Sunday. We also ensure that we buy the Hebron sachet water in large quantity because the water is pure and affordable.
“Also, since the increment in fuel price, water, especially sachet water, has become very expensive in the city but the price has remained the same here at the Canaan land as you get a bag of 20 sachets for N60 only but in the city, you can get a bag of sachet water for N120 and N150.
“So you see the price is affordable at Canaan land and you can buy as much as you like.
“But in the last two weeks, getting the water is like fighting a war as so many people are now patronising the Hebron Water.
“So people who do not even come to the church will come and buy in large quantity due to its affordability.
“Some even buy and resell.”
Another housewife, Mrs. Monica Ayinla, urged the government to reduce the cost of producing sachet water in the state.
Ayinla added that this will boost the morale and profit of local sachet water producers in the state,
She said: “The queue to get the Hebron water selling point at Canaan land on Sunday was terrible. I came to church to listen to God’s word but I ended up staying on the queue all through the service so that I can get Hebron water to buy.
“At the end of the day, I got only 10 bags and there was so much pushing and quarrel over the water.
“I have decided that I will not allow water to stop me from serving God so I will purify my borehole water and drink it instead of facing hardship in the house of God over water.
“Also it will be a great relief if government can assist local water vendors since it has failed in giving us water.”
