Adamawa to commence repair of schools destroyed by Boko Haram

In an effort to revive the education sector after the wanton destruction of schools by the Boko Haram terrorists, the Adamawa State Government, under the delegation of the Deputy Governor, Engr. Marthins Nasir Babale, inspected schools destroyed by Boko Haram in Gombi Local Government Area for repairs.
Babale visited Government Secondary School, Gombi that was established in 1977, but which became Boko Haram’s operational camp in the heat of the insurgency.
It was from there the terrorists camped and launched their incessant attacks, which left the school dilapidated and destroyed.
The Principal of the school, Alhaji Idris Samari, lamented the poor application of students to the school.
Samari revealed that the school before the insurgents attacks had over 1,000 students, but now records less than 400 as many had left.
He said: “We pray the visit of the government officials will hasten up their plans to renovate the school.
“As you can see, the school is in bad shape.”
Babale also inspected GSS, Muchalla.
He inspected the renovated blocks of classrooms by the State Government.
Another block of two classrooms is under construction by the Parents Teachers Association to support the efforts of the Governor Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow administration to rejuvenate the education sector in the state.
The principal of the school, James Garga, thanked Governor Bindow for the quick reconstruction of the school.
Garga said: “We really thank this Government.
“This is indeed government for the people and it is passionate to work for the people.”
At the palace of the Gombi District head, Alhaji Shuaibu Barde, Babale assured the Royal Father of the readiness of the Bindow administration to renovate all destroyed schools by the insurgents in the state.
