The report by The Eagle Online on Monday of a change in the leadership of the National Sports Commission has been found to be false.
Our usually reliable sources had hinted of a change in guard at the NSC.
The Director General, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, was said to have been relieved of his duty.
In his stead, a Director in the NSC, Alhassan Yakmut, was said to have been directed by the Sports Minister, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, to assume office on Monday (yesterday) as the Acting Director General of the Commission.
In fact, the handing over ceremony was said to have been fixed for 10am on Monday.
However, nothing of such happened.
We apologise to our readers for this misleading report and vow to to be more diligent in future.
