Ahmed Magaji-Kontangora, the Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, has decorated 12 Divisional of Police Officers and 14 other officers from the state with the rank of Superintendents of Police.
He told the Officers in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday to be ready for the new tasks and responsibilities ahead of them.
Magaji-Kontangora said: “The promotion is in recognition of your contributions to the development of the country in terms of fighting crime and criminality.
“To whom much is given, much is expected and your responsibilities are much more higher now as you are expected to pay back to the society.”
Magaji-Kontagora said that the promotion was in line with the Inspector General of Police’s manpower development policy.
He said: “The promotion is also aimed at boosting the morale of the police personnel for effective service delivery.
”It is also aimed at identifying, elevating and positioning deserving officers professionally.”
Magaji-Kontagora congratulated the beneficiaries and their families on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba.
The Commissioner urged them to reciprocate the gesture by exhibiting high professionalism, civility to members of the public and respect for human rights.
A Superintendent of Police, Alhaji Abubakar Iliyasu, who responded on behalf of the promoted officers, thanked the IGP, Police Service Commission and CP for finding them worthy of the promotion.
Iliyasu promised that they would re-double their efforts to justify the confidence reposed in them.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that all the 26 officers were promoted from the rank of DSP.
