Seventy-six male and female athletes, nine coaches and six other officials will represent the University of Ilorin at the 24th Nigeria University Games Association Games.
UNILORIN’s Director of Sports, Prof. Abimbola Adesoye, disclosed the figure to the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
NAN reports that the Games will begin on February 12 at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State and end on February 22.
Adesoye said that Team UNILORIN would compete in eight sports.
These are athletics, badminton, basketball, chess, judo, taekwondo, squash and swimming.
The director added that university’s athletes had been in camp since February 1.
According to him, the institution has supported the team with the required logistics for success at the competition.
Adesoye expressed confidence that the athletes would justify the investment in them by the institution’s management.
