Following the sack of nine ministers from the federal cabinet, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, has announced ministers that will oversee the affected ministries.
According to the SGF, pending the appointment of new ministers by President Goodluck Jonathan, the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, is to oversee the Ministry of Defence.
In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of State, Foreign Affairs (1), Prof. Viola Owuliri, will take charge while the Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike, will take full charge of the ministry until the appointment of a substantive minister.
The Ministry of the Environment under the arrangement is to be supervised by the Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Darius Ishaku, while the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development will be overseen by the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Architect Musa Sada.
The Minister of Communication Development, Omobola Johnson, will supervise the Ministry of Science and Technology, while the Ministry of National Planning will be overseen by the Minister of State for Works, Ambassador Basir Yuguda.
The Ministers of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, and Dr. Akinwumi Adesina are to take full responsibilities of the Ministries of Power and Agriculture pending the appointment of ministers of state.
