Panel to visit traditional rulers over land dispute in Ondo

The panel of inquiry constituted by the Ondo State government to unravel the remote and immediate causes of the land dispute between the people of Araromi-Obu and Ikale (Ago-Alaye) has concluded plans to visit the traditional rulers connected to the disputed areas.
This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen by the panel’s Chairman, Tunde Atere, on Tuesday in Akure.
The News Agency of Nigeria recalls that the state government had constituted the five-man panel to unravel the causes of the clash between the people of the two communities on July 18 which resulted in destruction of property.
“As part of its fact finding mechanism, the five-man panel of inquiry, led by its chairman, will pay a courtesy visit to Oba Faduyile, the Abodi of Ikaleland, in his palace at Ikoya in Okitipupa Local Government Area on August 21.
“The panel will also visit the Ajobu of Araromi-Obu, Oba Aderemi Adelola, in his palace,” Atere, a former Commissioner for National Resources in the state, said.
According to him, the essence of the interface by the panel is to solicit for the maximum support of the traditional rulers, their subjects and other stakeholders in the peace building process.
Atere, who said that the move had become necessary in order to forestall future occurrence of the incident, promised that the panel would meet up with the 21 days given to it by the state government to turn in its report.
