Nigerian speed star, Ahmed Musa, added another silverware to his collections as his Russian side, CSKA Moscow, emerged as the league champions on Saturday.
The latest achievement is the first league crown for CSKA since 2006.
Musa, who was handed a starter’s shirt by his Moscow-based club, fired blanks but his team emerged champions on the back of a scrappy 0-0 home draw with Kuban Krasnodar, as they needed just one point to seal the league title.
The striker joined the other Nigerian players such as Efe Ambrose of Celtic FC and Vincent Enyeama, who are to be crowned league champions this season.
Musa is in the run for a double as CSKA are still in contention for the Russian Cup.
Musa’s Super Eagles teammate, Elderson Echiejile, who helped Sporting Braga end their 47 year-long trophy drought by defeating FC Porto in the Portuguese League Cup final on Saturday, expressed his happiness for seeing another Nigerian winning the league with his club.
“Nigerian players are winning, lift trophies! Ahmed Musa, congratulations,” Echiejile wrote on his Twitter page.
