Absence of prosecution counsel stalls Dokpesi’s trial

The absence of the prosecution at the Federal High Court, Abuja on Thursday stalled the trial of Raymond Dokpesi, the Chairman emeritus of DAAR Communications.
At the resumed hearing, the prosecutor, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), wrote a letter informing the court that he had another matter at the Supreme Court.
The defence counsel, Wole Olanipekun (SAN), confirmed receiving a letter indicating that Jacobs sought for an adjournment.
Olanipekun asked the court for enough time to enable Jacobs, who is the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission counsel, to adjust his other cases.
He made particular reference to the case Jacobs was handling at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, which was holding daily.
The trial had previously been adjourned at the instance of the prosecution, having filed additional proof of evidence.
Dokpesi was dragged to court by the EFCC over an alleged N2.1 billion corruption charge.
The judge, Justice John Tsoho, adjourned the case till June 15.
