The Executive Director of Self-Reliance Economic Advancement Programme, Pastor Olatunde Oladokun, has pledged to continue to identify with and promote sports and sports participation in view of its importance in the promotion of unity and oneness in the society.
While receiving members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria in his office on Wednesday, Olatunde said the place of sports in the advancement of healthy living and inculcating in the youths the spirit of sportsmanship and leadership qualities must also be considered.
He commended SWAN for promoting and developing sports, even as he pledged the support of the micro-finance institution to the sports writing body and all its activities.
As a way of promoting fitness among members of staff of the organization, he approved a quarterly keep fit exercise in partnership with SWAN.
He said the institution will continue to, within its resources, impact positively on the society and also create the needed opportunities, irrespective of the economic challenges.
Olatunde commended Kwara SWAN for considering him as Patron.
Earlier in his address, the Vice Chairman of Kwara SWAN, Abdulwaheed Bibire, who stood in for the Chairman, Bunmi Adedoyin, commended Chief Executive of the institution for contributing to the development of the society through the creation of employment and also for complementing the efforts of the government through empowerment and support to Small Scale Enterprises.
Bibire said SWAN has identified and recognized the contributions of SEAP to the society, and has recommended the organization and its owner for honour.
He also called on the Federal Government to consider him for a national honour.
He said as a prelude to the national honour, Kwara SWAN has agreed to appoint Oladokun as Patron.
Also present at the occasion were the General Manager of SEAP, Deaconess Bukola Sanya Olatunde, who is the wife of the Executive Director; Management members; and other Kwara SWAN Executive members.
