An 80-year-old woman, Dada Audu, and her 15-year-old grandson are feared dead in Song, Adamawa State as gunmen attacked and burnt down the police station and local government area secretariat in the town.
Information available has it that the gunmen attacked the police station in the early hours of Thursday.
In the shootout that ensued, stray bullets were reported to have hit Audu and her grandson.
It could, however, not be confirmed as at press time if they survived the bullet shots.
The gunmen were also reported to have attacked a security checkpoint on the Song-Yola Road.
The spokesman of the Adamawa State Police Command, Mohammed Ibrahim, confirmed the development.
Ibrahim, who said he was on his way to Song, did not give details of the attack.
No individual or group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
But dreaded sect, Boko Haram, has attacked several police stations and offices of other security outfits in the last few months.
