Unperturbed that Senator Ifeanyi Okowa emerged as the flag bearer of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in the state, Emmanuel Ibordor, on Tuesday said Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan will handover to him next year.
Ibordor, who urged the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, O’tega Emerhor, not to dissipate energy or waste resources on campaigns, said he is merely waiting to be sworn in come May 29, 2015.
He vowed to defeat both Okowa and Emerhor during the governorship poll.
He said he is aware that his emergence has sent panic across their parties, assuring them his all-inclusive government would accommodate Deltans irrespective of their party affiliation.
Speaking at the party’s headquarters after emerging as the consensus flag bearer in Asaba, Ibordor said the people of the state have come to realize that his acronym, Green Delta, is laden with the desire to transform the state.
According to him, statistics have shown that over 44 per cent of large span of land in the state is barely cultivated due to swampy terrain.
He said: “With my political will, commitment and sagacity, I shall transform Delta State to a level of sustainable development in human and material resources, hence my emphasis on agriculture and agricultural product processing and export of finished products.”
Ibordor, who said the people had been on the same spot since 1999 under PDP governments, pledged to bond his promises with the outcome of his feasibility studies of the state.
While he said Okowa and Emerhor have been scampering to peep into his blueprints for the development of the state, he urged pensioners in the state to be patient tillMay 29, next year for their outstanding arrears of about N16 billion.
“I shall give an irrevocable instruction to the Federal Ministry of Finance to be deducting five per cent of Delta State allocation for pensioners, payable into their respective PFA accounts,” he said.
