‎AMAA kicks off with cocktail

The prestigious African Movie Academy Awards , an event packaged to mark academy’s 10th year of celebrating African cultural heritage, on Saturday was officially flagged off by the Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, retired Real Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah, with a private cocktail party at the State Banquet Hall, Yenegoa, Bayelsa State,
It was mainly for the movie makers.
The event, which served as in-road to the grand finale of the award nite, had all the members of the jury, actors and several movie stakeholders in attendance.
It was an interactive mini party session among the movie stakeholders and to honour those who deserved to be honoured.
Speaking at the pre-event, Jonah commended the organisers of AMAA for bringing Bayelsa State to the front burner of entertainment and tourism in Africa.
He said: “You are all know AMAA is our baby in the last 10 years and the annual movie event in no small measure has changed the face of our tourism since the creation of the state.”
The former military brass turned politician in his conclusion commended a creative daughter of the soil with the household name, Esther, who just been inducted into the Smithsonian National Museum African Arts, Washington DC, United States of America, with her creativity in fashion.
A special send-off session was held in her honour.
