Ekiti Parapo Pavillion, venue of the campaign rally of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, went into wild jubilation a few minutes ago as the former gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party in the June 21 governorship election in Ekiti State, Hon. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, arrived.
Bamidele, decked in white buba and sokoto, is expected to rejoin the APC at the rally.
Bamidele, representing Ekiti Central 1 Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, struck a new deal with the national leaders of the APC for a working relationship to deliver Buhari in the February 14 election in the state.
Bamidele, it would be recalled, dumped the then Action Congress of Nigeria, on which platform he got to the National Assembly, to contest the governorship on the LP platform when the ACN with other opposition parties went into an alliance and denied him the opportunity to contest the governorship ticket of the party with former Governor of the state, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
The incumbent was adopted by the party as the sole candidate.
Both Fayemi and Bamidele lost the poll to Ayo Fayose, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate.
Buhari, Fayemi and the Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, among other leaders of the party have also arrived at the venue.
