The Head of Media and Publications of the organisation, Dr. Fred Otuwarikpo, revealed this to the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Jos.

Otuwarikpo said the training was organized by ITF in collaboration with the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association, Peugeot Nigeria, Leventis Farms and other institutions.
According to him, most of the beneficiaries are not just left to start business or secure jobs on their own, but they will be engaged by the collaborating companies.
He said: “So far, 74,000 Nigerian youths benefited from the National Industrial Skills Development Programme covering the 36 states and FCT in welding and fabrication, cell phone repairs, plumbing, pipe fitting and tilling.
“We also trained them in poultry farming, fish farming, domestic wiring and installation, gemstone cutting and polishing, aluminium fabrication, computer repairs, auto body works and polymer recycling work among others.
“We have also trained no fewer than 5,600 women nationwide in the areas of bead making, soap and detergent production, decoration, pop production, garment making among others.
“These people are not just trained and allowed to go; so many of them have been offered jobs in the companies that we collaborated with.
“Most of these companies use their retention policy to absorb the trainees since they are already familiar with their standards and modes of operations.”
Otuwarikpo also said ITF had trained 4,000 artisans in the construction industry from its ongoing partnership with Cement Technology Institute of Nigeria.
He said the ITF lacked training centres and facilities but it had provided mobile training units to enable it meet up with the demands of the people.
He said: “We have only five training centres in the country and they ARE not enough for us to meet up with our mandate.
“However, we have provided mobile training units to enable us meet up with the need of the people.”
