The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said it had deployed 130 personnel on the Ore-Benin expressway for Christmas and New Year special patrol.
Similarly, the agency said it deployed three patrol vehicles, one ambulance and one tow truck for the yuletide special patrol which it revealed began Tuesday and expected to end January 15, 2023.
FRSC Unit Commander, Sikiru Alonge disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Friday in Ore, Ondo State.
Alonge disclosed that the FRSC personnel included officers, marshals and special marshals, who were to ensure free flow of traffic along the highway.
He said: “We are now in the festive season where we have high vehicular movement and influx of people too and that is why we began the special patrol.
“We have also collaborated with other security agencies to ease traffic flow and arrest drivers who flout traffic rules and regulations on the highway.”
He, however, cautioned drivers against flouting traffic rules in order to avoid crashes for them to be alive for their families, enjoy and celebrate the yuletide. NAN
