In a bid to end the hold of members of Boko Haram on Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, the military has deployed the fighter jets in the fleet of the Nigerian Air Force.
It was learnt that this followed the resilience of the Boko Haram members who have been taken on by a combination of the military and police operatives.
The combined military and police team is said to be making inroads into the state capital but has been careful to avoid civilian casualties.
A source in Damaturu told The Eagle Online that the Boko Haram members are now going from house to house slaughtering anyone in sight.
The source, who escaped with this family members into the bush shortly after the Boko Haram sect took over the town at about 6am, said nowhere in the town is safe again as explosions and heavy gunfire continue unabated.
The state university was the first target of attack when the sect members stormed the town on Monday morning.
