The Yobe government on Thursday distributed 18,190 bags of rice, 2,545 Jerry cans of vegetable oil and 2,487 bales of used clothes to Internally Displaced returnees in its 17 local government areas.
Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu, the state deputy governor, while distributing the materials, said the materials were to support the victims of recent attacks in the state and returnee communities in the host communities to boost recovery process.
The deputy governor, who is also the chairman, state committee of Resettlement, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction of Internally Displaced Persons, said government would continue to support the recovery of all victims.
Abubakar, who was represented by Alhaji Muhammad Lamin, the state Commissioner for Education, urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the materials.
He said: “You should not sell these materials; you should use the materials to better your lives and recover your lost economy.”
He said the materials were donated to the state by the Nigeria Customs Service and the state Sustainable Development Goals.
The beneficiaries in the 17 councils were also provided with 1,619 cartons of Spaghetti, 759 sacks of used shoes, 1,103 cartons of soap, 20 cartons of tomato paste and 200 bags of salt.
Others items included 531 sets of sewing machines and 270 sets of grinding machines.
He said the beneficiaries also included disable female persons, tailoring and fashion design associations, women development centers and the police officers wives association.
