Xenophobic attacks: FG summons South African High Commissioner

The Federal Government has summoned the South African High Commissioner to Nigeria, Bobby Moroe, over the unabated attacks and killings of Nigerians in that country.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, disclosed this on Tuesday in Abuja while on a working visit to the Headquarters of “Leadership’’ Newspaper in Abuja.
Fielding questions from the management and editorial board of the medium, Mohammed said the envoy was summoned by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyema, following a directive by President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said the federal government condemned in strong term the incessant attacks and killings of its citizens in South Africa and will do all things possible to address the situation.
Mohammed reiterated the position of the government to take definite measures to checkmate the attacks and killings of Nigerians in any part of the world.
News Agency of Nigeria reports that South Africans commenced fresh attacks, looting and burning of businesses and properties belonging to Nigerians and other nationals and in the process killed three people.
