Windstorm destroyed more than 270 houses in Bakura Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Saturday, the state Emergency Management Agency said on Monday.
The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Alhaji Atiku Maradun, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Gusau that the incident occurred at Bakura and Gamji towns.
Maradun said that animals and other property were also destroyed in the disaster, adding that victims of the windstorm had been offered shelter in the neighbourhood.
The ZEMA boss told NAN that the agency had submitted reports on the disaster to the state and the federal governments.
He also said that the National Emergency Management Agency had visited both disaster sites for quick intervention.
