Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has applauded his Abia State counterpart, Okezie Ikpeazu for changing the developmental narratives of the South East state.
He said he was proud to be associated with Ikpeazu even as he stated that Abia people did not make a mistake in electing him as their Governor.
Wike made the commendation while speaking shortly after the official commissioning of the first ever flyover at Osisioma Interchange and newly reconstructed and dualized Aba-Owerri Road in Aba built by Governor Ikpeazu-led administration.
The Rivers Governor who was a special guest of honour during the commissioning ceremony, also applauded Governor Ikpeazu for proper utilization of the meagre funds of the state to build the interchange project for public use, maintaining that the completed projects executed by present state government, has better positioned Governor Ikpeazu to clinch the Abia south senatorial district seat in the forthcoming 2023 general elections and as well all other candidates of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Abia state.
Speaking during the commissioning of the Osisioma interchange which were part of activities lined up to celebrate the 31st Anniversary of the creation of Abia State, Ikpeazu stated that the interchange was constructed out of his business by ensuring that traffic jam that makes traders to spend hours at the Osisioma junction was controlled.
Recall that the military administration of Retired Major General Badamosi Babaginda had on 27th of August 1991 created Abia from old Imo state.
Continuing, Governor Ikpeazu said that the interchange would foster economic development of Abia state, and also emphasized that the essence of governance is to solve problems of the people.
He used the medium to express profound gratitude to the Abia business community and entire people of the state on the realization of the gigantic projects.
The State Chief Executive described the day as special for the people of goodwill, and mocked the opposition and those who castigated his government while the construction of the Interchange lasted, saying that it was a sad day for them.
On why he invited Rivers State Governor to perform the commissioning of the completed projects, Ikpeazu said, “I invite Governor Wike to commission the projects because he is the father of flyovers in Nigeria, and understands the value of an Interchange”.
