The military authorities in Nigeria said on Tuesday that it killed 13 members of the dreaded sect, Boko Haram, in a gun battle.
The military, however, lost one soldier in the shootout in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
The spokesman of the Joint Task Force in Borno State, Sagir Musa, said: “One soldier was killed by Boko Haram while the JTF killed 13 Boko Haram.”
Musa, who spoke on Tuesday, said members of the sect had detonated a bomb at a JTF checkpoint in Maiduguri.
He said the gun battle ensued after this.
