A distributor, who allegedly bought bottled water on credit and failed to pay at the agreed time, on Thursday appeared before a Shari’a Court sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna State.
The police charged Shamsudeen Ahmad, 28, with breach of trust and misappropriation.
The prosecutor, Insp Luka Sadau, alleged that the complainant, Jibril Sadiq, reported the case to the Unguwan Sunusi Police Station.
” On July 30, 2021, Ahmad went to the complainant’s juice and water company and bought goods worth N84,000,300, promising to pay as soon as he sells the items.
“The accused sold them and converted the money to his personal use, and all efforts made to trace him proved abortive until the police tracked and arrested him,” he said.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.
The judge, Malam Murtala Nasir, granted the defendant bail in the sum of one million Naira and a surety.
The judge adjourned the case until March 3 for substantive trial.
