Washing your babe’s briefs, by Anurika Onyelemelam

To be candid, I don’t see anything fundamentally wrong with washing your woman’s pant and brassieres!
Like my friend, Adetola Ademosun, would ask: “Kini big deal?”
I had written on this subject before. Do you guys still remember?
It was after one of Baba Iyabo’s wife granted an interview where she told the world that former President Olusegun Obasanjo used to wash her briefs.
We were watching a Yoruba movie a few days ago when a guy, apparently under a spell placed by his wife, started washing her pants and brassieres.
I see this trend repeatedly in movies.
And I couldn’t help but ask: “Must juju be used on a guy before he would deign to wash his babe’s undies?”
Utter rubbish!
Women wash their guys’ pants every day. I fail to see the difference between the guy doing the washing for his wife and the wife doing same for him.
Are you saying that if your wife is quite sick, that you can’t do her laundries for her?
Heck, she doesn’t even need to be sick. Where is the love, if washing her briefs is an abomination?
Do you really feel it’s an abomination or you’re just worried about what your friends would say if they see you washing such items?
Believe me my brother, your relationship is your problem and not that of your friends.
Most of your friends, who are sniggering at you, might be secretly jealous of the unique relationship you have with your wife.
The only way for us to sustain our marriages and relationship depends on how we want to run it.
Handle your relationship the way you feel is right and leave your friends and siblings to their own.
In matters of the heart, what is good for you might not be good for others. So also what works for you, might not work for others.
Hold it right there!
Don’t even go there!
Did you guys hear what he just said?
He’s talking about mensuration and stench.
Let’s look at it this way: those briefs cover one of the items on your wife’s body that gives you the greatest pleasure. It also covers the road, where those lovely kids of yours had to journey through, to come into this world.
If not for that zone, where those briefs used to cover, how would you have gotten little angels, who call you: ‘Daddy’?
If you love your babe, you’d wash her briefs. It’s not necessarily a test of your love for her, but just something you can do without breaking out in sweat.
It should be a normal routine in marriage and doesn’t need to be argued or debated about.
I know that Nigerian guys, being Africans, might see it as a big deal, but it’s not!
In Nigeria, women are expected to do a lot of nonsense for their men, but the men do so little.
It’s only in Nigeria you find a heavily pregnant, almost at the point of delivering woman, pounding iyan (yam) for her husband, who is in the sitting room, watching Manchester versus Chelsea football match!
I know a guy who used to bring breakfast to his wife in bed every weekend. He is a teacher and I recall people used to marvel at him. Surprisingly, he used to wonder why people reacted to him as strange just because he cooks for his wife when he’s at home on weekends.
My point here is Nigerians should stop attaching black magic to every romantic gesture a guy does for his babe.
Romance is not only about a guy taking a babe to the beach or eateries. There are various ways to show love and romance.
You just need to look inside you and know how to express that overwhelming feeling you have for your babe.
When you’re in love, you’d been willing and ready to do anything to alleviate situations for your wife. You’d been ready to put a smile on her face, even if it means washing her undies!
