As part of Warri Wolves preparation for the coming season, the club will trade tackles with Bayelsa United on Saturday at the Warri Township Stadium, Warri, Delta State while on Monday, at the same venue, it will be the turn of highly rated Sunshine Stars of Akure.
The Media Officer of Warri Wolves, Moses Etu who disclosed this to journalist in Warri, said the team will use the two matches to seal their preparation before the league kicks off in the next one week, if the interim league management board lives up to its promise.
According to Etu: “The two clubs will pose a big challenge to our boys and will put them in a match mood pending when the league will start.”
Coach Solomon Ogbeide is expected to field those who did not participate in the Flying Eagles match and it is an opportunity for the fans to see those who are qualified to dorn the golden shirt of Warri Wolves.
Etu added: “It is also an opportunity for those who performed below expectation in the match against Flying Eagles to redeem their image or have themselves to blame as fans are already complaining of them.”
Meanwhile, the players have expressed their readiness to prosecute the two matches the way they are supposed to play in the new NPL season to kickoff later in the month.
Speaking on the match, Uchei Ossai, who is the captain in the absence of Azubuike Egwuekwe, who is presently with the Super Eagles in South Africa, revealed that the players have long been looking forward to Grade A friendly match and this is an opportunity to test their skills before the league kicks off.
Ossai said: “We are happy with the level of preparation, especially our Coach, Solomon Ogbeide, who has really transformed the team.
“This Grade A friendly will assist us to know our level of preparation because we are determined to get something this season.
“The management has really done their best so we want to reciprocate that gesture.”
