Ward wants Joshua showdown
Undefeated pound-for-pound boxing titan Andre Ward has refused to rule out a possible blockbuster showdown with heavyweight champion of the world Anthony Joshua.
Ward recently toppled Sergey Kovalev in a Las Vegas showdown on Saturday night and, when asked what his next move could entail, the superstar admitted anything is possible in the sport.
For a potential bout with British sensation Joshua, who recently defeated legend Wladimir Klitscho at Wembley Stadium, Ward would move to the heavyweight division.
The US star is confident he can do well if pitted up against the bigger guys, due to his stamina and work-rate in the ring.
When asked, in the aftermath of his victory over Kovalev, whether a bout with Joshua could be arranged, Ward replied: ‘Anything is possible.
‘Maybe cruiserweight, I don’t know. Cruiserweight, heavyweight, that’s always been a dream of mine.
‘It’s gotta be the right guy, but I dream big.’
The 33-year-old screamed to the world that he is now the undisputed no 1 following his conquering of Kovalev – triumphing in the clash which was loaded with bad blood and built on a narrative of betrayal.
