Kehinde Lamidi, Chairman, Media and Publicity, Nigeria Volleyball Federation, on Tuesday said the Federation had invited eight players to prepare ahead for CAVB Continental Cup.
Lamidi told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that the Federation needed to prepare for the second phase of the Olympic qualifier.
According to him, the Olympic qualifier was scheduled to hold between March 19 and 23 in Mozambique.
He said the Federation would do its best to ensure that it qualified for the forthcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympic qualifier.
He said: “Eight players have been invited to join those on ground.
“The players and officials are expected to resume camp today at the Ahmadu Bello stadium, Kaduna
“We hope this development and hard work will give us victory.”
Lamidi further said Team Nigeria was drawn alongside host Mozambique, Tunisia, Zambia and Congo Brazzaville in Group A of the Olympic qualifier.
NAN reports that the players invited include Hilary Simon and Emenike Ejike from Rivers; Andrew Sunday and Godwin Shekarau, both from Sazahm; and Obayomi Ogunshina from the Nigeria Police Force.
Others are Peter Ibrahim, Abdulrasheed Ahmed and Babalola Hussain from Kada, Galant and Plateau respectively.
